by DJ SalsaEddy on 07/26/10
Only Edwin Morales family circle is known for its name. But if someone professes to be salsa, you need to know who Edwin"Mulenze". This bearish Bayamon, who has played alongside the most important exponents of the sauce, has written his own page in the history of this musical genre as founder and director of the orchestra 's Mulenze, which this year celebrates 30 years of experience. And Edwin is proposed to hold this big event with a series of events throughout the year. The first will take place this Saturday at the Winner's Convention Center at Camarero Race Track, and is addressed to the dancer, figure that the musician attributed largely keep the sauce is still valid. "The sauce is not going to die and I would say is at a very satisfactory. New orchestras, who are like us when the pillars of the sauce were at their peak and they said the Youth Orchestra, are doing their job very well. And that adds a bunch of guys who are taking their dance schools to municipalities and has re-the salsa dancer ", said Edwin. That's why he wanted to thank you with a dance, for which gathered the voices of The Mulenze -Pupy Pedro Brull and Cantor-with the current singer, Rafi Andino, Juan Garcia and Wichy Camacho. The repertoire includes the great successes of the orchestra as "Do not go, I learned last night, I came to say, So thank you, with short, Filomena, My bold, and I Say", among many others. "I thought both the dancer, I have taken the audacity to marry some old and new numbers like a dj without the orchestra stops. That is until the dancer is tired ", ahead of Edwin. Pedro Brull's participation in this show is very significant to the salsa audience, which is still considered the official voice of the Mulenze, although in 2005 he left the band to start his solo career. "Edwin was able to establish an identity for the orchestra and my style of singing flowed perfectly with its proposal. But after 24 years I wanted to give me the opportunity to record an album (Forecast). Today I am working mostly outside of Puerto Rico and I have to admit that thanks to the Mulenze'm traveling the world, "said Brull. Rafi Andino, who has spent 25 years as lead singer of the group, recalled that the departure of his colleague Pedro Brull was a hard blow, Fortunately, The Mulenze managed to overcome. "At first we even canceled events, but then the public was adapted to the new members. The arrival of Juan Garcia brought us a young audience, because we gave a new style, "said veteran sonero. After the event this Saturday, Edwin plans to continue to celebrate the 30th anniversary of The Mulenze next August with a massive concert at the Ruben Rodriguez Coliseum in Bayamon. In this show, which hopes to have other singers in the orchestra, and Kenny Cruz, Chegüi Ramos, Cano Estremera , and Gary Carrion, is to launch a live production. Salsa from here to Africa with Tito Nieves
by DJ SalsaEddy on 07/22/10
In the 70s the stars of Fania proved conclusively that the roots of salsa were in Africa. Therefore, it is not uncommon for the Gabonese singer Dabany Patience, who was called "Mamma", has been interested in recording an album of salsa, or that it wanted to do a duet with Puerto Rican salsa singer Tito Nieves. Both artists came together yesterday in a recording studio in Guaynabo Mandulila item (I will not cry over), in Spanish and baumbu language, and explained how the idea. "I had the pleasure of going to Gabon through a communication with the son of Patience, who today is president of that town, and on that occasion I had the pleasure of meeting. At that moment I heard some of the 42 albums he has recorded, and this year I made the approach to perform a duet, because she always had the commitment to link their music with the sauce. So much so that the disc holder will in Puerto Rico La Mamma ", detailed Tito, who commissioned the musical production of the item at Ramon Sanchez. "People in Africa loves salsa, I recorded some tracks and liked them, so I decided to do a full disc of sauce. With Tito found a great affinity, I consider family, so I invited him, "said Patience, who is from a young fan of the music of Tito Puente, Johnny Pacheco and Celia Cruz. Gabon Patience is recognized as the First Lady, as her ex husband was president of that town for several decades. But she chose music over politics. "I like helping people, but I was never interested in politics. My vocation is singing, because it is the talent God gave me. In addition, music also serves to carry a social message and to please the people ", concluded the entertainer, who speaks French and more than 50 African languages. (La Salsa) The sauce is not over!!!
by DJ SalsaEddy on 07/19/10
More than a regular orchestra, La 33 seems a machine with engine propulsion. In the middle of last year toured Norway, Sweden and Finland, offering a series of concerts that his press officer called " the most intense heat of spring Scandinavian ". As soon returned, went to work in the composition of new songs. In three months, the material was already recorded.
A month later traveled to New York to do the mastering and before Christmas, while the radio kept repeating that the " arrived in December with his joy ", they already had ready a new album: " Ten cuidado ". Unlike the previous album, in who peered out at times into Latin jazz in this new production La 33 returns to solid ground of the "salsa dura".
In essence remain the same: some guys committed to good rumba, whose music echoes moments released by Willie Colon or Eddie Palmieri. But there is, for example, instrumentals. His gamble seems to be more focused on the message and the disk offers enough space for that look, one after another, the three singers in the orchestra. So incisors come to sound the themes of social commentary (Consciousness uneasy), raging like no other in the songs of heartbreak (Vanity) or simply joyful chorus in these downloads simple and long instrumental solos (Mambo to boogaloo), which is perhaps what they see out. One of the highlights, moreover, is the contribution they wanted do the boogaloo, Latin rock and roll that species which had its heyday in the sixties and today is being rediscovered thanks to the office of DJ with good taste and the appearance of compilations on compact disc.
In this regard, we recommend an album that is readily available in the Colombian market: Signature Fania Boogaloo. And if you immediately hear the Funky Boogaloo one of the 33 understand why these guys are so dear to the salsa circle. Very few could carry the torch with such poise.
